Cressex School

Cressex had been developing their own system for recording and analysing incidents of challenging behaviour but decided to purchase sleuth as it had all the functionality they required together with some they hadn't even considered.

What features of sleuth originally interested you in the system?

sleuth had similar features to one we were trying to design in school but was far more sophisticated, looked easy to use and could be developed according to our particular needs.

How do you feel that sleuth will benefit behaviour management at your school?

It is hoped sleuth will benefit behaviour management at Cressex by:

  1. Allowing analysis of behaviour patterns by e.g. type of behaviour, individual pupils, inclusion groups, location, learning style, time etc. etc.
  2. Promote consistency of sanctions.
  3. Promote effective intervention and support programmes for pupils.
  4. Using the analysis to develop effective behaviour management strategies and policy.

There are a number of potential benefits to behaviour management strategies reinforced through the use of sleuth, how would you rank the following in order of importance from 1 to 10, where 1 is the most important?

  1. By its ability to analyse incidents and behaviour
  2. By improving incident recording
  3. By improving incident tracking and follow-up
  4. By encouraging consistent sanctions
  5. By assisting in the development of pupil support plans
  6. By improving access to incident and behaviour data
  7. By assisting in the development of staff support plans
  8. By improving incident reporting
  9. By reducing administrative effort
  10. By meeting DfES guidelines on incident recording

In what ways do you think sleuth will help members of staff with behaviour management?

Subject staff: to look at classroom organisation and learning styles.
Heads of Departments: to offer support to individual members of staff.
Helps to track pupils and intervene.
Will cut down on admin time for all teaching staff and middle managers.

How do you feel sleuth could be used to support other strategies - e.g. in terms of direct work with students and parents?

The reports are useful at parent meetings. The analysis will help us set targets for behaviour.
Have used it for years 10 and 11 to monitor coursework completion.

The system claims to be "easy to use"- do you feel staff feedback would support this claim?

Yes.

Why did you choose sleuth over other behaviour recording systems and which other systems did you consider?

We needed a central system that would support and develop our present 'paper' one. It offered flexibility and lots of scope for development.

Do you have any other comments regarding sleuth or School Software Company .com?

Has great potential, can be adapted to individual schools' (needs) and their policies.
Easy to implement.
The company are extremely helpful and keen to see the product have a positive impact on behaviour management.
Technical backup when required is helpful and efficient.
