Middle Leaders are crucial to the process of school improvement, providing the link between the senior leadership team and teaching staff, the link between policy and practice.
Improving student behaviour is a challenge faced by all Middle Leaders and success depends on the ability to put an effective behaviour policy into practice. Tracking behaviour can make a significant contribution to a Middle Leader's ability to monitor the impact of the policy and how staff are applying it in practice.
We have written an article based on our experiences of working with Middle Leaders in hundreds of schools advising on behaviour improvement. The paper identifies the attributes of a successful Middle Leader and the significant supporting role of Sleuth in ensuring policy becomes practice.
