Reduce Referrals & Improve Behaviour

In the Ofsted guidance for securing a good judgement for behaviour the number of referrals is seen as a measure of effective leadership and management.   How a school manages these referrals between colleagues is a reflection on not only school leadership, but also several other aspects of school life, such as:

  • how effective your behaviour policy is
  • how efficient communication is between colleagues in school
  • how accountable your staff are for their actions
  • whether you are improving behaviour

An effective system for managing referrals addresses all these areas.  By improving how you manage referrals you can improve behaviour, improve communication and provide targeted and relevant CPD to develop staff skills in managing behaviour in the classroom.
