Every Child Matters - Using Sleuth

Sleuth makes a key contribution to the work undertaken by each school to address the Every Child Matters agenda. Individual behaviour profiles produced by sleuth allow schools to identify and remove the barriers to learning faced by the individual. Whole school behaviour profiling in sleuth contributes to the development of a safe and emotionally secure environment in which all young people can achieve academic success and fulfil their individual potential.

As with all behaviour types recorded in sleuth the aim is to focus on identifying patterns and trends in behaviour with a view to influencing strategy and developing policy. Recording bullying incidents in sleuth gives schools much more than just a statistic - by using sleuth as a diagnostic tool schools can analyse incidents of bullying, as well as profiling the perpetrators and victims, to provide a broad evidence base from which schools can take decisions to support an anti-bullying agenda.

  • sleuth identifies opportunities for early intervention for young people at risk
  • sleuth tracks all behaviours including bullying, racial and sexual harrassment
  • sleuth tracks bullying at the level of detail you choose, (e.g. rumour-spreading, ostracising or taunting)
  • sleuth reports on whole school, group and individual behaviour in detail (e.g for profiling) or summary (e.g. for LEA purposes)
  • sleuth allows information and good practice to be shared easily between professionals

"Now we have sleuth we are able to demonstrate that behaviour in this school is improving. It allowed us to clearly demonstrate to OFSTED how we have made significant improvements in the way we manage behaviour and we can demonstrate that we are working to address the Every Child Matters agenda." Deputy Headteacher at Holte School in Birmingham. Click here for the full case study.
