Behaviour Improvement Programme in ChesterfieldThe Chesterfield Excellence Cluster is a group of three secondary schools and eight primary schools who over the last school year have implemented sleuth to track and analyse pupil behaviour. Nicola Hollings, Behaviour Improvement Co-ordinator for the project explains the reasons why the cluster chose sleuth and gives an update on how the project is progressing. "It is important that schools have accurate and up to date information on behaviour which they can analyse easily. sleuth enables schools to plan properly to manage behaviour. In formulating a Behaviour Improvement Plan for a school it is crucial that you can review your current position. This review has to be based on the analysis of data. "The benefit of a system like sleuth is that the review/audit is not an additional task that schools have to undertake. The evidence and analysis can be easily retrieved from sleuth and is based on the referral system that teachers use to communicate daily concerns about behaviour. "It is clear that our Headteachers see benefits in the software as they prepare the Self Evaluation Framework for Ofsted. They are clearly able to demonstrate their decision making and strategic management of behaviour through the reports and analysis in sleuth. "Our BIP schools are encouraged to have weekly referral meetings to discuss the behaviour of students that are causing concern. The information from sleuth makes a key contribution to these meetings and enables schools to develop and discuss interventions- Importantly pre-empting the escalation of behaviour in some cases. "The other benefit to schools is that it has an impact on a number of levels:
Parkside Community School, one of the secondary schools involved in the project, have spoken in more detail about their use of sleuth and it's impact on behaviour management at the school. You can read the case study here. For more information about sleuth contact:
