Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do we purchase sleuth? See our ordering page for details on how to purchase sleuth. What platform does sleuth run on? The sleuth application will run under Microsoft Windows XP. In a multi-user environment the database itself can reside on a file server (NT, Novell etc). No other software is required to run the product. Is sleuth a multi-user application? Yes, sleuth can run as a single user or multi-user application. Each authorised member of staff can be assigned a username and password and any incidents recorded or changes made are time, date and user stamped. If we purchase a single PC licence for sleuth can we easily upgrade to a networked version? Yes, upgrading sleuth to a networked system is a simple process and no data will be lost. Contact us to purchase any upgrades. How much does sleuth cost? The cost of sleuth is based on the number of computers on which it is installed. A single-user licence still enables many users to access the application but only from a single PC. The multi-user versions allow the product to be networked for use by many users on multiple PCs. All licences are valid for one year. To continue using the product a renewal fee of 50% of the purchase price is applicable for each subsequent year. This entitles you to receive full support including all product updates and upgrades. Please see our ordering page for details of prices and how to purchase sleuth. What about support and upgrades for sleuth? Telephone support is included in the purchase price and any future enhancements and upgrades will be available to licence holders free of charge. Users also have access to a private support website which includes a discussion forum, knowledge base and information on how to make the most of our products. Is sleuth compatible with our existing applications? sleuth can be run alongside most other applications you may have installed. Some systems may duplicate data present in sleuth e.g. student and staff details. To prevent the need to re-key the data into sleuth a facility exists to import data into it's database provided the data can be exported from your other systems in the required format. Systems such as SIMS are capable of exporting data in the correct format. Is sleuth designed to run in primary schools? sleuth has been designed to be flexible enough to allow it to be configured for use in many environments including primary schools, secondary schools, colleges of further education and special schools. Can I add my own behaviour types and actions to sleuth? Yes. sleuth has a number of preloaded behaviour types and actions which have been designed to encompass most situations but you have the option to both exclude any that do not apply to your use and also to create any which are specifically applicable to your environment. Do you come and install sleuth for us? sleuth has been designed to be very easy and intuitive to use and this applies to the installation process as well as use of the application. If, however, you would feel more comfortable if we installed sleuth for you and helped with the migration of student and staff data from other system you may have then we are happy to provide this service for you. Please see our training page for details of the options available.
